Magpie Tales ~ Mag 119

The challenge this week is from the painting by Hopper...Visit The Mag and see the other writings!  Fabulous!!

Hopper, Edward,...House at Dusk
 I played...

Waiting

He said she would be right back,
that she simply went to do some errands
I didn't hear her leave,
I didn't see her go?
I wait.

He said she wasn't mad
that she simply had to go out for awhile.
I didn't hear her go?

I didn't see her leave?
I wait.

He said she loved us so;
that she simply would not leave us.
I didn't feel the tears
I didn't see his fear?
I wait.

He said she would return;
that she simply left for a little while.
I didn't hear the fight?
I didn't see the blows?
I wait.

He said he wasn't crying;
that she would be home very soon.
I knew that he was lying?
I knew she wouldn't return.
I wait.

He said he had to go;
that he had to run some errands.
I didn't hear the door close?
I didn't see him leave?
I wait.

They left me here alone;
that they would be back soon.
I knew this wasn't true.
I knew I'd have to go.
I wait.

The apartment was found empty.  Not a soul in sight.  The only sound was the sound of dripping water from the sink in the kitchen.  The coffee was on; the toast ready in the toaster; cereal bowl filled and uneaten; and a sink filled with dishes.  Not a soul in sight.

The apartment was found empty.  Not a soul in sight.  Blood smeared on the wall, and on the floor, and on the door.  Mirrors broken on the right.  Window broken on the left.  Not a soul in sight.

The apartment was found empty.  Not a soul in sight.  The mystery now has deepened.  No husband!  No wife!  No son!  Where had this begun?

Not a soul in sight?

 A mystery unfolds tonight!

Not a soul in sight!?

Magpie Tales ~ Send in the clowns!

Todays inspiration comes from a fabulous painting by Marc Chagall!

Marc Chagall

Faces

She sat alone
with the image in the mirror
Alone
applying her makeup by rout

She sat alone
with the image in the mirror.
Wondering
why the makeup wouldn't adhere.

She sat alone
with the image in the mirror
Observing
The streaks that did appear.

She sat alone
with the image in the mirror
Weeping
watching her make up smear.

She sat alone
with the image in the mirror
Knowing
Her image would disappear.

She sat alone
with the image in the mirror.
Watching
The transformation begin.

She sat alone
with the image in the mirror.
Admiring
The image that did appear.

I played with the Chagall just a bit. Just for fun! To speak of the image that sat alone.

Magpie Tales ~ The Mag 117 ~

Our challenge this week...a beautiful painting by Paul Gauguin....in honor of Mothers' Day!  The image...

The Meal, 1891, by Paul Gauguin

Time to eat

On this day,
the kitchen is empty
the oven is cold.
Taking the day off;
they were all told.

It's just another day,
 our stomachs are empty
they mumbled and groaned
You're expecting us
to cook on our own?

On this special day,
I am sleeping in
then I'm taking a bath.
So fend for yourselves,
or suffer my wrath!

On this day,
the kitchen is empty
the oven is cold.
She took the day off!
She is so bold!!!

Happy Mothers' Day!!

Wonder of love and life

She looks so fragile,
flesh and blood.
Yet she has carried life,
Where a dream once stood.

She formed a thought,
dream and memory.
Yet she bore in pain,
In blood and fury.

She looked so calm,
serene and gentle.
Yet she tended carefully,
Open wounds with mettle.

She held a hand,
firm and tender.
Yet she trembled,
First steps; freedom rendered.

She surrendered her life,
selfless and freely.
Yet giving her all,
flowing time so easily.

 She is titled mom,
sister and friend.
Yet our secrets remain,
Her wealth she lends.

Feel the honor, mom; feel the love!!  We salute you and give you our hugs!  Thank you for life!

Hidden Meanings ~ Secret Things!

The challenge is to present a piece of art having to do with hidden meanings or secret things. What a wonderful challenge.

Over the years, I have attempted to write diaries and keep journals and all to no avail. Secrets I keep hidden deep inside of me. I don't write them down and I very rarely share them. I am just not mysterious nor do I play games. Nothing hidden...so this is a unique challenge for me.

What secrets do I hold that I wish to share? I do use symbols many times. Patterns, shapes and icons. They have personal meanings to me..they are my mark! I guess in many ways, these marks keep the pieces mine in some fashion. Guess that is my secret.

I am sharing a collage and some photos that embrace these thoughts.

Holder of Dreams

So sweet,
the taste of it.
So masterful,
it's grasp.

So gentle,
it's voice.
So seductive,
it's presence.

So powerful,
it's image.
So memorable,
it lingers.

So it leads me,
and I follow.
Dreams in the night,
become plans for the day,
 Perfection.

Magpie Tales - Mag 116 - Drifting!!

The image challenging us this week is...

image: River Irwell by R.A.D. Stainforth

Stillness Drifting

She felt the pain;
she sat so still.
She felt the rain;
it didn't feel real!

She felt the water;
she's sitting still.
She felt it rushing;
it's tears will spill.
She felt the coldness;
she felt it still.
She felt the dampness;
it's fingers grasping her heels.

She felt it swirl;
she lowered her head.
She felt the darkness;
and now she's dead.

 The water seemed so peaceful...too peaceful.  I just had to go this way.  Always aware of what lies beneath.

Here is my take on the piece...
