Magpie Tales ~

The prompt for this week...

Breakfast, 1921, Fernand Leger

My take...

Breaking Bread

She ate
eggs, toast
Time falling away
Fractured.

She ate
eggs, toast
Heart beating still
Frazzled.

She ate
eggs, toast
In a snow storm
Chilled.

She ate
eggs, toast
Fractured
Frazzled
Chilled....

Alone!

Have an imaginative and creative day!

  2. Hopefully the eggs and bacon can bring some comfort...

  3. I love the contrast of the "traditional warmth and comfort of eggs and toast" with the cold harsh reality of your poem, SueAnn. The image you've created is very cool and it suits your poem. I thought the repetition made it great. Thank you for sharing. =D

  5. I love that you made poetry with the words and the shapes (like you always do, just to make me jealous!). I followed the trail of the broken words and by the time I got to the end, I felt her fractured ways all over my skin.

  11. Ha! I have to agree with Aprille. Beautiful header. The poem... she sounds like the routine is what held her together.
