Magpier Tales ~ Dinner at Eight!!

The prompt being offered today by The Mag 129 is a painting by John Singer Sargent...

A Dinner Table at Night, 1884, John Singer Sargent

Then I had to play with it...

Dinner at Eight

Only a little late,
wine is good
candles lit
She can't wait!

Car door closes
heart beats faster
check the roast
She poses!

Doorbell rings
kiss on cheek
flowers in hand
She sings!

They sit at table
she serves
food so perfect
She feels so able!

He pulls out phone
begins to read
says so many emails
She moans!

The food grows cold
she begins to wonder
Could it be true?
She feels so old.

She soon becomes
so quickly it seems
stuck to the wall
She is wallpaper!!

  2. Oh, I feel her disapointment and sadness. Dinner time is family time!

  3. These days with mobiles family time is getting eaten up.

  6. Manners seem to be a thing of the past sometimes. Unless it's an emergency, it is rude to take a call/text when dining. It sets the wrong priority immediately. I've felt like wallpaper before...
Love your blog! I found you through Brian Miller's creative blog : )

  7. So rude to get your phone out at the dinner table. I hope she got on with hers and let his go cold.
