Magpie Tales ~ Ashes to ashes!

Happy New Year!  Unbelievable!!  Soon it will be 2013 and we start this all over again.  And the Mag starts us off with a new challenge.  The picture she chose is....

I altered it a bit....

Ashes to Ashes

Dust to dust;
running a game,
taking a gamble.
Addicted!

Ashes to ashes;
dust to dust;
clouds in the sky,
smoke in your eye.
Addicted!

Ashes to ashes;
dust to dust.
Children desire;
generational curse,
Addicted!

Ashes to ashes;
dust to dust.
Chained;
Choked,
Addicted!

It was Just a Little Town

"It was Just a Little Town"

There was a little town nearby;
it was close to nowhere,
and next to nothing.
I could just cry.

A place with wind and rain;
clouds and sky!
A place where people
live and die.

I used to live in that little town.
It was near to my heart;
 close to my wildest dreams.
Clouding my thoughts.

A place with friends and enemies;
and close blood ties!
A place to grow\
and reach the sky.

We all lived in just such a town.
It bordered timelessness;
 nearer hopelessness.
It broke my heart.

A place with wind and rain;
clouds and sky!
A place to live,
before we die.

Magpie Tales ~

The prompt for today is more difficult than it appears...at least I think so.  I could go in so many directions.
Here is the photo...

photo by Andy Magee

Do I discuss the car, the wet road, the field?  So many choices...I love the challenge!  Here is my take on the photo.....

Reflections in time

Wandering on this road called life,
moving from side to side.
Crowds gather.
shouts of dismay
ashes at our feet.

Wandering on this road called life,
following all the signs.
Some say right,
some left
some chose no direction at all.

Wandering on this road called life,
rains wash our faces clean,
stones break
gulley's form;
plans harden like mud.

Wandering on this road called life,
seconds ticking away.
clocks stand still,
children die
parents cry
nations profess confusion.

 Wandering on this road called life,
broken deep within.
 secrets whispered in the dark,
whistling in the wind
 tunes of silent men
rumble in our heads.

Colors

artist unknown to me

Colors

Today I put some color on my canvas.
Yesterday the color turned red.
I listened to the news
and was filled with dread!

Today I put some color on my canvas.
Yesterday the color turned black.
I saw the images
and was taken aback.

Today I put some color on my canvas.
Yesterday the color dripped.
I saw their faces
and felt my heart rip.

Today I put some color on my canvas.
Yesterday the color cried.
There is no explanation.
I wanted to hide.

Today I put some color on my canvas.
Yesterday the color was red.
They were all shot!
They are all dead!

Today we are on our knees;
no words come out of our mouths.
We cry
We gnash our teeth
We no longer ask
WHY?

What will be tomorrow?

Magpie Tales ~

The challenge prompt this week is for sure, challenging!  Here is the image...

Now that is a tattoo!!   Here is my take on this image...

A gentle carass

She lay there,
softly, her breath sounds.
Sheets barely covering;
exposed.

She lay there,
a smile on her lips.
Sheets rising and falling;
content.

She lay there,
her ink showing.
Sheets accenting the curves;
desire.

She lay there,
following the outline.
The lines in black;
sensual.

She lay there,
as I reach for her.
Tracing the outline;
remembering.
'
She lay there,
I sit next to her.
Enjoying her presence;
craving!

Magpie Tales ~

We have a wonderful challenge this week.  A pic of a sculpture by Man Ray...

object to be destroyed

Here is my take on it...

What she said

When she told me
love neverending
forever
She smiled!

When she told me
friends forever
complete
She smiled!

When she told me
hold me tight
forever
She smiled!

When she told me
she was leaving
goodbye
She smiled!

When she told me
I see her eyes
no tears
She smiled!

Magpie Tales ~

The Mag 143 offers us the following image as the challenge for this week...

Here is my take on the image...

Sunrise

Dawn watcher;
facing the breaking shadows;
memories a garment;
covering her shoulders.
Shivering!

Dawn watcher;
 haunted by ebony's;
 oranges and reds;
surrounded by colors.
Speechless!

Dawn watcher;
swept by emotions;
sweet and salty;
yearning for more.
Satisfying!

Dawn watcher;
crimson and gold;
filling her soul;
filing the edges.
Healing!

Dawn watcher;
longing no more;
pain washed away;
standing strong.
Enduring!

Magpie Tales ~ Done with it all !!

The Mag has offered us a new prompt for  this week....

Charis, Lake Ediza, California, 1937 by Edward Weston

Here is my take on Edward Weston photo....

Done with it All

She was leaning against a stone cold wall;
tired and worn out.
Totally spent...
played out...
Done!

She sat leaning against a stone, cold wall;
emptied and worn out.
Extremely weak...
fatigued...
Finished!

She leaned against the stone, cold wall;
worn to a frazzle.
Weeping...
broken...
Lost!

She lay against the stone, cold wall;
Calling to him.
Yearning for his touch...
one more time.
Crushed!

She stood against the stone, cold wall;
reaching for him.
Grasping the air....
humiliated...
Heart-broken!

She walked away from the stone, cold wall;
resolute.
Brave and determined...
going it alone...
Strong!

He approached the stone, cold wall;
hopeful.
Contrite....
yearning for her touch...
.......
Standing all alone!!!

Magpie Tales ~ What she wants!

Another great challenge from The Mag.  Here is the prompt...

Here is my take on this...

She thought she knew!

They kissed;
as if in a dream.
No substance;
just air between them.

Floating above each other;
afraid to hang on.
They kissed again;
unsure of the first.

How she wanted it to be;
solid and still.
The kiss;
so fragile-unreal.

The rain began;
surrounding their hearts.
His kiss;
pinned her to the earth.

Soaked and broken;
clinging to a dream.
They kissed;
and vanished into thin air!

Magpie Tales ~ In God we Trust!!

Well the prompt this week over at The Mag, is very challenging!!  And unique!  Took me awhile to get into it.  Ha!!
Here is the prompt...

Here is my take on it.....

I See You!!

What are we thinking?
Freedom of Speech;
roaming the land,
What do we seek?

What are we thinking?
Freedom to wander;
to and fro.
What do we want?

What are we thinking?
Freedom of Religion;
worship our God,
What do we adore?

What are we thinking?
Freedom to be;
just like we are.
What is so bad?

What are we thinking?
Arguing; fighting;
throughout the land.
Let's just get along!
Do you think we can?

Magpie Tales ~

From The Mag, we are given Midnight Snack as our source of inspiration....

Midnight Snack, 1984, by Curtis Wilson Cost

Spooky!!  My take on it...

Midnight

And the clock chimes,
telling it's story.
Of life and loss;
pain and death!

And the clock chimes,
shouting it's protest.
Of sweet victories;
times long ago!

And the clock chimes,
 sounding it's pride.
Of a family;
long gone!

And the clock chimes,
melodious joy.
Of baby's born;
weddings celebrated.

And the clock chimes,
amazing grace.
How sweet the sound
Of past and present;
turn all around.

Magpie Tales ~ Faint of heart!

Today's challenge painting is...

Sick Woman, 1665, by Jan Steen

My take on it.....

Faint of Heart

Fever,
Chills,

Oh how she ached!
Her heart....
Heavy!
Her mind...
Confused!

Fever,
Chills,
Oh how she longed!
Her heart....
Broken!
Her mind....
Clouded!

Fever,
Chills,
Oh how she hoped!!
Her heart....
Torn!
 Her mind...
Anguished!

Fever,
Chills,
Oh how she cried!
Her heart....
Divided!
Her mind....
Unsure!

Fever,
Chills,
Oh how she knew!
Her heart...
Broken!
Her mind...
Unclear!

He left...
he's not coming back...
Chills !

He loved another...
she's my best friend...
Fever!

Oh how she planned!
Her heart....
Iced!
Her mind...
Set!

Revenge!

Random Tuesday ~ Pain and Fashion!!

Sorry I missed last Random...but I was battling a migraine...ALL WEEK!  Now I am battling blogger!!
Ha!  It wouldn't let me post on my regular blog!?  Mystery!  Sooooo...we are posting here!  And the migraine...finally broke on last Saturday!!  Sheesh!!

So not much to randomize about this week....just a pillow and pain meds and ice packs.  Oh, and Sunday, met my grandkids and daughter in law in town and went shopping.  A very special trip indeed.  Time to pick out a homecoming dress!!  Woot!!  This one is for Georgia...the youngest of my granddaughters.  She will be 17 on October 3rd!!  Happy Birthday honey!!

We had a blast!!  Here are the dresses she tried on...

Cute dress but not the one she wanted

Just didn't fit her right!
The winner!!

So she chose the short blue one and it fit her perfectly!!  Adorable!!  Then we shopped for shoes and jewelry.  She found a wonderful pair of silver sparkly shoes with five inch heels!!!  Oh my!  Now we are styling for sure.  Found an adorable pair of earrings and a flashy ring.  She is ready to go.

Dr. John and I are traveling to Gallup next weekend to photograph the occasion of her first formal dance.  It is also her birthday so we will be celebrating for sure!!

We all, the girls that is, went out to lunch at the Flying Star...yummy!!  We saved room for dessert....to die for baked goods!!  This capped off our day and we declared it a success!  So fun!

Saturday, Dr. John and I went to town to run our weekly errands and and then I watched Michigan State get creamed!!  Ha!!

Been working on lots of art projects...getting ready for the art and craft show...November 3rd!!  I mean, seriously, it is October!!!  Time is flying for sure.

I have been taking pics of the items I have been working on...and I will share them on Thursday!!

Hey!  I have two pumpkins on the vine!!!  Yay!!!  I will post some pics next week!!

Well, would you believe...this is it!  I have nothing more to randomize about!  Damn migraine!!

Make sure you stop by Stacy's at Stacy Uncorked and see the other Randomizers!!  We have some new members...fun, fun, fun!!  Go look or better yet...join in!!
